Welcome to the PEI blog
Hi, thanks for stopping by my name is Guy and I’m filling in for Granny. Some of the BIO below is Granny’s original content, but this paragraph is about me. If spent 35 years in the public service, bringing quality service to my clients. I spent my last 5 years before retirement here on PEI. I started working as an ambassador for PEI because I think it is an often overlooked gem of Eastern Canada. Tea Granny started this blog and I am proud to continue bringing you information about PEI. Enjoy your visit here.
For the better part of 4 years, Cindy and I dreamt about some day living in Canada’s beautiful Prince Edward Island. For many years I took all my vacations only on PEI. Those 4 years passed quickly while I was planning for the day of the move.
Each year we would plan a frugal trip to PEI with the biggest attraction being the ocean. (skip ahead of the boring stuff) In 2000 we sold everything we owned to buy a home in PEI. Cindy packed what she could fit into a mini van and drove the 14 hours to a fresh start, that was 12 years ago.
Over the years I have listened to people say, “you’re living my dream to be in Prince Edward Island.” I struggled for some of those 12 years; no joke I didn’t fit in, I was from away, my grandfather wasn’t born here, I’m from the big city, oh and the list goes on. Breaking through the friendly cement barrier wasn’t easy when trying to make friends.
Visiting PEI is sweet, but living here can be sour sometimes. I intend to blog about living here, visiting here, and connect with people who want to move here.
Return often, the good outweighs the bad, really.
~Cindy
