I did a search for Prince Edward Island Beach Glass and found this wonderful picture at Trails of Hats and Hospitalitea. I am amazed that you can still find lots of beach glass and even more amazed as to the wonderful things that people do with it.
According to my search, there are several people in PEI who work with beach glass
A Maritime Girl has recently added beach glass to her collection. She has a studio on University Avenue in Charlottetown and on her site you can find links to her studio and to online shopping.
Shoreline Designs also includes beach glass in its collection of wares. Here is a quote from their website: Prince Edward Island carvings and Seaglass Jewelry is available at the Georgetown studio and store of artist Peter Llewellyn, a sixth generation Prince Edward Islander, who blends his passion using signature Island sandstone, genuine beach glass, smooth soapstone, and South American serpentine in his creations.
The Mermaid Tears Seaglass Festival will be held in PEI for the 3rd year. This has been a very popular event. Imagine a beach glass lover like me in a huge tent full of beach glass vendors. Two days of beach glass heaven. The weekend of July 15th will be a very busy time for avid beach glass lovers. Coming back to yesterday’s post, another reason for accommodations to be difficult to find in early July…plan ahead.
Fire and Water Creations has a wonderful selection of rings, pendants, and other beach glass jewellery items. Many are encased in silver as shown in the picture on the left.
The Scrapbooking Gift Shop also has a collection of beach glass jewellery. There are several samples on the site including black (seen on the left), aqua, green and clear(white). I am an avid scrapbooker and love beach glass, so this site is a double plus for me.
Enjoy . . . Granny ~oo~
Tomorrow, C is for Coffee.
