Beside the Trail Bed and Breakfast
Cindy and I operate Beside the Trail Bed and Breakfast in Charlottetown. It is located on the Confederation trail which makes it a convenient stop for people cycling the Trans Canada Trail. This home based business venture combines four of our interests:
- Meeting visitors and helping them make the most of their stay in PEI
- Operate Grandma’s Tea Room
- Provide scrapbookers with PEI/nautical themed borders and embellishments
- Provide workshop space for Cindy’s Seaglass Jewellery making endeavours
In addition to finding information on Prince Edward Island on this site, please let us make your stay in PEI memorable by providing you a comfortable and affordable night’s sleep.
My sister and I are planning a trip to PEI in Aug. We need help in planning the best places to stay and get the most for our buck.
We are sea glass hunters and need to know the BEST beaches
We also would like to take a few tours, we need to know the best ones.
We love staying in the local motels and meet the people
Any information will be very helpful

I am sure, Peggy, that you will enjoy your visit to PEI.
My wife and I are beachcombers and we spend many hours (in the off season) walking the many miles of wonderful beaches on the Island. We have also prepared a GPS-guided beachcombing day trip to explore the many beaches where you might find seaglass.
Should you find a treasure, Cindy can teach you how to wire wrap your very own piece of jewellery.
We have not taken many tours, although we do enjoy going deep sea fishing. There are many charter boats on the North Shore that will take you on a 2-hour hunt for cod.
Seal and what watching tours are also fun, but there are no guarantees there either.
This year, there will be dozens of special events to mark the 150th anniversary of the Charlottetown Conference. The PEI Tourism website already has some of the details. While you are there, check out accommodations online to find a motel that suits your itinerary. If you want a more personal experience, consider staying at one of the many Bed and Breakfast where you can spend a bit more time chatting with your hosts and get the scoop on what is happening today in the neighbourhood.
Enjoy your visit . . . Guy
Hi,
I followed your travel van for a few blocks in our city of Moose Jaw. I was hoping you would stop at a coffee shop where I would be able to welcome you and chat. At first I thought you were on a mission or cause of some sort. I think it’s great to travel coast to coast. It is my dream to do that within a couple of years. I wanted to hear about your experiences and travel advice.
Best wishes for a wonderful trip.

I am glad our sign is getting attention. We have had a few honk as they pass us on the highway. Even one texted they were following us on the road. We are just about 4 weeks on the road and having a great time.
Do not be in a hurry. Canada is a vast country with lots to see. Just before Moose Jaw, we went from REGINA to the Big Muddy and then onto Willow Bunch. You would not find tbese attractions without some research.
We have been planning this trip for a year and a half.
We have a loose itinerary but planning on 4 hours driving and 8 hours sightseeing per day. If you go ”
Down the road” more than 4 hours, you will miss many things.
If you follow Cindy on http://2fromaway.ca you will see a few tips in her posts.
Walmart wifi is our best friend. In tbe US, not as many do, but we can find at Lowes, dunking donuts, etc.
