The West Coast of Canada is known for crab. The east coast is famous for Lobster. Check the visitor’s guide for an extensive listing of seafood places.
If you want to learn about lobster, there are many lobster related sites like lobster.ca where you can find recipes, and lobster facts.
Now if you want seafood delivered that is a whole other story. I found this elegant simple website that says what it needs to say: Fresh P.E.I. Lobster to your door. Without further detail I don’t know if they ship outside the provice, but here are some that do:
When they say Fresh Lobster, be sure you understand what that means. Fresh lobster is kept in big fish tanks so it is not “caught today” unless they say so. Bear in mind that there are two lobster seasons in PEI. We hear about in in the Spring; it usually starts on May 1 and runs for just a few weeks. Then there is a fall season although I cannot seem to find the exact dates. So twice a year, the lobster fishermen can fill up their tanks and hope they have enough to meet the season’s demand.
Don’t forget the International Shellfish Festival, this year September 15-18.
If you want the full experience you should look up a traditional 5-course lobster supper. There are many places that offer this special event. Some have just the one offering, but many have options for the land lovers. For a set price, you will usually get: Chowder, Salad, Lobster Dessert, Drink. Most places serve Galley Style which means you may have another tourist sitting beside you at a long table. According to the government website there are 8 traditional lobster eateries. perhaps there are more.
Now if you want a lobster souvenir, you can find many lobster creations in gift shops. And if you like Scrapbooking, you can find paper lobster embellishments for your albums at the Island Made Scrapbooking Gift Shop.
enjoy your seafood ~oo~
